So earlier this week I realised I had to make my clothing website before christmas.. slight panic but I'm sure I'll manage (somehow).
Been looking at the Glue London website and I really like their work! Last week in our Thursday lecture Zoe mentioned about a 'cloud' room filled with beds where designers go to get inspiration! WOW that sounds like my kind of place!
Trying to get work finished along with finding decent work to take along to the student design fair on Friday. Really looking forward to meeting other students from Grays however slightly gutted we have to be in the same groups, I would have enjoyed some competition between the college students vs uni students! I wonder how that would have turned out....

Back in the day...
So.. I have to build my portfolio to showcase my work from second year, but since we've only done two briefs I'm thinking about including some first year work. BUT most of my first year work is border line average and there are only a few pieces of work which I like. Panic!
I don't want to include work which isn't up to scratch but I also don't want to have an empty portfolio...
I thought about including sketches but none of them would relate to the pieces of work I've done in college.

Video clip
To all the Family Guy fans!
Watched this episode the other day and absolutely loved how the style of animation changed! I love how it shows the different styles of animation there are and shows how a general family guy animation changes into a disney inspired style.

Can you draw the internet?
Here is my attempt to draw the internet! :)
The idea gradually came together after I started to draw well known icons from the internet then added wires and decorative elements! This was then followed by the legs...
Enjoy!

Previous work
Im starting to get the hang of uploading images! Yay
Here is my website for A-Z children's charity, one of the earliest briefs we were all given.
This is just the home page but is a good example to show the overall design I went with and how I layed out all the information combined with text on the website. The colour scheme is very specific too, relating to the actual logo of the charity I designed at the beginning.
Again I was really pleased with the outcome of my designs and I put alot of effort into completing this brief, definately one of the briefs that I have enjoyed the most!
Example of work
After many failed attempts of trying to upload images, it has finally worked! This is my second time writing this blog because I didn't click save and so I lost what I ranted about a few minutes ago so here goes again...Here are my two book covers that I designed for the last brief and I chose to do the poetry category. I'm really pleased with the final outcome of my designs and I spent alot of time struggling to come together with a certain style. Trying to get my own imagery was really difficult but I think towards the end everything started to piece together and I'm really pleased! :)
I tried to maintain the same style with both book covers and keep a good balance between the imagery and text. The whole design I've created has a reason behind it rather then thinking "it looks nice". I wanted to have a distinct look of the book covers being ripped and therefore you could see inside the book and look at the images which represent the things that are mentioned within the poem. I think I did quite well, if I do say so myself and hopefully everyone has a good opinion about it! If not.. too late now.

Assessment
Finished all my work and ready to be assessed!
For this unit I have particularly enjoyed designing an inforgraphic due to the fact we were able to choose our own topic and was given the freedom to explore new ideas and styles.
During the book cover brief I found it more difficult to create a modern style to my chosen poetry books. However during the sketching process I kept developing ideas which enabled me to come up with my final design. More development work was produced onto the computer and my finish work has included effects which I believe makes my final designs look more professional as well as presentable.

My progress so far...
Finally finished my infographic!
Now beginning the book cover brief, and have chosen to do "And still I rise" by Maya Angelou and also "selected poems" by W H Auden in the poetry category. I decided to pick this option because I think it would be the least chosen topic by others and I want to try something different. Currently researching book cover designs in general to expand my research and knowledge. After exploring different styles that have been used in the past and currently I will begin to come up with ideas and produce rough sketches. Hopefully this will give me ideas about the type of photographs I will need.

Digital imaging brief
Currently still on the infographic brief, taking a bit longer then first thought! Trying to produce an appropriate level of design to present in my portfolio. Extra work shall be done at home so more time can be given on the main digital imaging brief. At the research stage, looking at current and previous book design covers which will lead me to finally choosing two books from the brief and to start producing sketches. During my research and sketching stages my ideas should help me think about the type of images I will need to collect to enable me to produce at particular design.

End of the week review...
Well, i've finally managed to come up with a logo design! Having recently been uninspired I have a logo idea which I think will have a good branding opportunity and will be great for the Charity's campaign ideas! Tomorrow is my self study day which I will spend taking my idea forward and producing it on the computer. Hopefully the idea works well and is visually effective when produced and applied to the required stationary etc. I'm mostly looking forward to producing website visuals, so I will have to think outside the box and be more original with my designs!

Harder than I thought...
Currently still at the skecthing stages which turns out to be much more difficult than I had first thought. I'm going to blame it on my chosen charity logo which tackles three main factors - children in Uganda suffering from HIV/AIDS. Trying to incorporate all these issues into one design has been incredibly difficult and has held me back from going onto the computer stage which I had hoped to have started by now. And with my part time job I'm going to struggle to have an idea by Thursday which is the last day I can realistically sketch. I need all the luck i can get and hopefully I can come up with a good enough logo design!

Production meeting
Just finished presenting my work at our first ever production meeting!
Unfortunately most of my work was on the computer, so all i had to show was two mood boards which I got good feedback for.
Hopefully next time i will have progressed even further and will have all my work on me so I can present my work in fuller detail and get more opinions.

Week one...
After doing quick research about contemporary designs and designers I have now started to create mood boards on charity logos. I have split all charities into different categories so my mood boards focus on one particular topic. My first mood board has research about animal charities and annotation about each logo.

My first blog
So far, after creating a blog to record my work i have started the first brief and have began to research current logos and charities. I will continue to get various information on different charities and will finally choose one to create a corporate identity for.
